This is no ordinary spinach dish. When friends of ours from Gilbert, Arizona made this as a side dish last Thanksgiving, it was a huge hit. Needless to say there were no leftovers.

Ingredients

6 bunch
spinach, fresh
3 medium
sweet onions
3-4 clove
garlic
6 Tbsp
butter
3 Tbsp
olive oil
3/4 c
heavy cream
3/4 tsp
freshly ground nutmeg
2 c
pepper jack cheese
salt and pepper to taste

How to Make Spicy Creamed Spinach

Step-by-Step

  • 1Chop and stem spinach, chop onions, mince garlic.
  • 2Melt butter in large skillet over medium heat. Add olive oil, stir in onions and garlic. Cook about 2 minutes or until onions are translucent.
  • 3Add spinach and stir till warmed throughout and is beginning to wilt.
  • 4Add salt, pepper, nutmeg and cream. Bring to a boil then reduce heat and simmer till liquid is reduced by half.
  • 5Add pepper jack cheese, stir till cheese is melted. Serve immediately.
