Spicy Black-eyed Peas

I tweaked this recipe from Paula Deen's! Delicious.....:-))) P.S. You may want to soak peas overnight to promote faster cooking.

1 lb
smoked turkey necks or smoked hamhocks
16 oz
black-eyed peas
1 medium
1 can(s)
16 oz diced tomatoes with chili or jalapeno peppers
1 tsp
seasoning salt
1 tsp
chili powder
1 tsp
salt and pepper
1 tsp
minced garlic


1Prepare smoked turkey necks, smoked hamhocks by cooking in water until tender.
2Saute medium onion and garlic until tender. Add in other spices and seasonings.
3Add onion and spices to meat, stir thoroughly.
4Add in black-eyed peas to mixture, cover with enough water.
5Last, add in can of diced tomatoes with peppers. Cook for 1 to 1 1/2 hours or until peas are tender. Add more water as needed. Enjoy with rice if desired!
