a nice alternative to the typical green bean casserole!

Ingredients

  • 1 small onion
  • 1 stick butter
  • - fresh green beans
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 cup grated cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup bread crumbs

How To Make sour cream green beans

  • Step 1
    Cut very tips off of fresh green beans. (**You can cut beans in half at this point if you wish; i prefer to leave them whole.) Cook in large pot of boiling, salted water until tender, about 15 minutes. Drain beans and return to pot.
  • Step 2
    Cut onion into thin slices. Saute onion in 1/2 stick butter (or margarine). Add onion and butter to pot with green beans. In same pot, combine sour cream, flour and seasonings; mix lightly.
  • Step 3
    Pour into greased casserole. Sprinkle with grated cheese. Melt remaining 1/2 stick butter, toss with crumbs. Pour over casserole.
  • Step 4
    Bake at 350, uncovered, for 25 minutes.
