Ingredients
- 1 cup onion, chopped
- 1 cup ham, chopped
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 1 - large head cabbage, coarsley chopped
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- - cayenne, to taste
- - salt and pepper
How To Make smothered cabbage

Step 1In a large heavy pot, cook onions and ham in oil over medium heat, until the onions are wilted, about 5 minutes. Add cabbage, water, sugar, cayenne, salt and pepper. Cover pot and cook, stirring occasionally about 30 minutes, or until the cabbage is soft and tender.
