Simple Beer Batter Onion Rings

This is how my mom has made beer battered onion rings and therefore, this is how I make them for my family.

1 c
all-purpose flour
1 c
beer, at room temperature
2 tsp
old bay seasoning
ice water
vidalia onions, sliced to form rings
oil for deep-frying


1Mix first 3 ingredients and let rest for 30 minutes.
2Soak sliced onions in ice water for 30 minutes.
3Drain onions and dry with paper towels.
4Heat oil to 365 degrees.
5Dip onions in batter, letting excess drain off and fry in batches without crowding for 3-4 minutes. Drain and salt.
