Ingredients

1 1/2 tsp
butter, melted
1
small head red cabbage, thinly sliced
2
tart apples, peeled, cored and chopped
1/4 c
apple cider vinegar
1 c
red currant jelly
1/4 c
water
1/2 tsp
salt
1/4 tsp
sugar

How to Make Rodekool (Red Cabbage)

Step-by-Step

  • 1Melt butter in a two quart saucepan and add cabbage, apples, cider vinegar, current jelly and water. Mix well.
  • 2Cover and simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until cabbage is tender, about 1 hour.
  • 3Add salt and sugar, mix and serve.
  • 4This recipe can be prepared a day ahead , just refrigerate. When ready to use just warm through.
