Ingredients

  • 3 cups sugar
  • 3 cups vinegar
  • 1/3 cup canning salt
  • 1 tablespoon mustard seed
  • 1 tablespoon celery seed
  • 1 tablespoon turmeric
  • 3 pounds small cucumbers - sliced 1/2
  • 1 - large onion - diced

How To Make refrigerator bread and butter pickles

  • Step 1
    Wash cucumbers and slice. Layer in glass jars with onion as desired. Combine above ingredients - sugar, vinegar, salt, mustard seed, celery seed and turmeric. Heat slightly until sugar is dissolved. Let cool, then pour over cucumber slices. Cover and keep refrigerated. Let stand a day before starting to use.
