Ingredients
- 3 large red onions, cut into 1/4" slices
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 2 cups vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup self-rising flour
- 1/2 cup cornmeal
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt & pepper
- SEASON TO TASTE:
- salt & pepper
How To Make red onion rings

Step 1Combine onions & buttermilk in a large bowl; soak for 5 minutes.

Step 2Meanwhile, pour oil in a large pot to a depth of 1 1/2"; heat to 375 degrees F.

Step 3Mix flour, cornmeal, cayenne, salt & pepper in a medium bowl. Drain onion rings.

Step 4Working in small batches, add a few onion rings to flour mixture & turned coat. Carefully add to oil. Fry until golden brown, 2 minutes. Drain on paper towels. Sprinkle with salt & pepper to taste & enjoy!
