Ingredients
- 1 small head red cabbage, washed and shredded
- 1 1/2 cups boiling water
- 2 1/2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 3 slices bacon, chopped
- 1 - white onion, peeled and chopped
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1 dash sugar
How To Make red cabbage salad/blaukrautsalat

Step 1Put cabbage in a heat-proof glass or ceramic bowl. Mix 1 tablespoon vinegar with boiling water and pour mixture over cabbage. (Vinegar prevents cabbage from losing color.) Let stand for a minute, then drain and return cabbage to bowl.

Step 2Saute bacon and onions until onions are golden brown and bacon is crisp. Add to cabbage with remaining ingredients, toss, and serve immediately.
