This was given to me by a nephew's wife. She got it from her grandmother.

Ingredients

  • - beets, trimmed
  • 5 cups sugar
  • 5 cups apple cider vinegar
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 tablespoon salt

How To Make pickled beets

  • Step 1
    Cut tops off beets leaving about 1-2 inches on top, leave roots on. Boil in water for about 30 minutes. Cool and remove skins. Slice.
  • Step 2
    Heat in a saucepan: sugar apple cider vinegar water salt
  • Step 3
    Pack sliced beets into jars and cover with the hot liquid. Place tops and rings on jars and process for thirty minutes.
