mom's greek string beans
My favorite green beans! My Greek mother and grandmother made these with roast lamb since I can remember. It's surprising how just four ingredients can taste so Greek! added my picture where I used a pound of frozen French sliced green beans and diced tomatoes.

Ingredients
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 1 can tomato sauce or diced tomatoes
- - cinnamon, just a sprinkle
- 1 pound string beans or frozen green beans, your choice
- - olive oil or vegetable oil
How To Make mom's greek string beans

Step 1Clean the green beans or defrost frozen green beans.

Step 2Heat 1/4 inch oil in a large pan, add onions.

Step 3Cook until onions are just about to brown. Sprinkle with a little cinnamon. (this is how I was taught)

Step 4Add the tomato sauce or diced tomatoes, which I prefer. Bring to a boil.

Step 5Add the green beans and simmer for 20-25 minutes, covered.
