Another winner from the Schwan's people! As a child, I liked "tato cakes" better than the original potatoes. Still love them! This is SO simple.

Ingredients
- 2 cups mashed potatoes (can use frozen after thawing or leftovers)
- 2 teaspoons all purpose flour
- 1 medium egg, beaten
- 1/2 cup all purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- - salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 2 tablespoons butter
How To Make mashed potato cakes

Step 1Beat egg into potatoes, along with 2 tsp. flour (if needed). Divide potatoes to make 8 portions and form into patties.

Step 2Mix together 1/2 cup flour, the garlic, salt and pepper and dredge uncooked patties with flour mixture.

Step 3Heat oil and butter in large skillet over medium-high heat and cook patties 10-12 minutes or until a golden brown on each side. Turn patties halfway through cooking time.

Step 4Great with sour cream, bacon bits and chives!
