Another winner from the Schwan's people! As a child, I liked "tato cakes" better than the original potatoes. Still love them! This is SO simple.

Ingredients

Add to Grocery List

  • 2 c
    mashed potatoes (can use frozen after thawing or leftovers)
  • 2 tsp
    all purpose flour
  • 1 medium
    egg, beaten
  • 1/2 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp
    garlic powder
  • ·
    salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 Tbsp
    vegetable oil
  • 2 Tbsp
    butter

How to Make MASHED POTATO CAKES

Step-by-Step

  1. Beat egg into potatoes, along with 2 tsp. flour (if needed). Divide potatoes to make 8 portions and form into patties.
  2. Mix together 1/2 cup flour, the garlic, salt and pepper and dredge uncooked patties with flour mixture.
  3. Heat oil and butter in large skillet over medium-high heat and cook patties 10-12 minutes or until a golden brown on each side. Turn patties halfway through cooking time.
  4. Great with sour cream, bacon bits and chives!
