Ingredients
- 1 medium cabbage, shredded
- 1 can cream of celery soup or cream of mushroom soup
- 2 sleeves ritz crackers, crushed
- 1 - 1 1/2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, grated
- 1 can french fried onion rings
- 1 small onion, minced (optional)
- salt and pepper to taste
How To Make layered cabbage casserole

Step 1Chop cabbage and saute in butter until tender. Season cabbage with salt and pepper.

Step 2Drain cabbage - reserving 1/2 cup cooking liquid. Place a layer of cabbage, in greased casserole dish, followed by a layer of cracker crumbs, then a layer of grated cheese.

Step 3Repeat layers. Mix soup with cabbage both and mix well. Pour soup mixture over casserole. Top with any remaining cracker crumbs and french-fried onion rings.

Step 4Bake at 350 degrees until bubbly and hot.
