I planted Roma green beans this year and wanted to cook them with an Italian flavor palette. I've tweaked a few other recipes and come up with this. You can also use frozen beans - just adjust the cooking time. Buon Appetitio!

prep time 20 Min
cook time 10 Min
method Stove Top
yield 3-4 serving(s)

Ingredients

  • 12 ounces italian/flat green beans, trimmed into 1 inch pieces
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons garlic, minced
  • 2 teaspoons italian seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (or to taste)
  • - salt and pepper to taste
  • - grated parmesan, romano or your favorite for garnish

How To Make italian green beans

  • Step 1
Cook beans in boiling water until just tender. Drain well.
  • Step 2
In a skillet, heat the olive oil on medium high. Add the garlic, Italian seasoning and red pepper flakes. Stir for a few minutes until garlic is golden and fragrant.
  • Step 3
Add green beans, stirring until covered with oil/seasoning and heated through. Salt and pepper to taste. Garnish with parmesan if desired.
