This recipe is a nice change from the usual baked beans that show up at BBQs or pot luck dinners! Has a sweet & sour taste thanks to a sugar and vinegar sauce.

kidney beans (16 oz. can), drained
1 can(s)
green beans (16 oz. can), drained
1 can(s)
lima beans (16 oz. can), drained
1 can(s)
wax beans (16 oz. can), drained
1 can(s)
garbanzo beans (16 oz. can), drained
4 slice
bacon, crumbled
2/3 c
3/4 c
1/2 c
2 Tbsp
corn starch
1 1/2 tsp
salt (or to taste)
1 tsp
black pepper (or to taste)

How to Make Hot 5-Bean Salad


  • 1In a large skillet, cook 4-8 slices of bacon until crisp. Crumble bacon for later. Pour off all but 1/4 cup drippings.
  • 2Combine in skillet sugar, cornstarch, salt and pepper. Stir in vinegar and water. Heat to boiling, stirring constantly.
  • 3Add all the beans to the skillet, stirring to mix.
  • 4Reduce heat and cover. Simmer 20 minutes.
  • 5Turn into a serving dish and top with bacon crumbles. Enjoy!
