This recipe is a nice change from the usual baked beans that show up at BBQs or pot luck dinners! Has a sweet & sour taste thanks to a sugar and vinegar sauce.

Ingredients For hot 5-bean salad

1 cankidney beans (16 oz. can), drained

1 cangreen beans (16 oz. can), drained

1 canlima beans (16 oz. can), drained

1 canwax beans (16 oz. can), drained

1 cangarbanzo beans (16 oz. can), drained

4 slicebacon, crumbled
-
2/3 csugar
-
3/4 cvinegar
-
1/2 cwater
-
2 Tbspcorn starch
-
1 1/2 tspsalt (or to taste)

1 tspblack pepper (or to taste)
How To Make hot 5-bean salad

1In a large skillet, cook 4-8 slices of bacon until crisp. Crumble bacon for later. Pour off all but 1/4 cup drippings.

2Combine in skillet sugar, cornstarch, salt and pepper. Stir in vinegar and water. Heat to boiling, stirring constantly.

3Add all the beans to the skillet, stirring to mix.

4Reduce heat and cover. Simmer 20 minutes.

5Turn into a serving dish and top with bacon crumbles. Enjoy!
