This is a old family recipe from South Dakota. Butter and brown sugar makes this a Holiday only dish. I double this recipe for Christmas dinner.

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1 can pineapple juice, unsweetened
- 1 can yams, drained
How To Make holiday basted yams

Step 1Melt butter and add both sugars and water(I drain the canned pineapple and use it for part of the water measurement). Boil. While waiting for first 4 ingedients to boil, arrange drained pineapple and drained canned yams into casserole pan. Pour boiled mix over pineapple and yams. Bake uncovered for 45 mins. Baste 2-3 times.
