hawaiian baked beans
Baked beans are a staple at any and all cook outs here in NJ. I am not a baked bean fan, but I made these once and now I am always asked to bring these to a covered dish or a cookout. Everyone loves the pineapple & ham that is included. I hope you enjoy them as much as they have been enjoyed by my friends and family.

Ingredients
- 1 - #10 can of your favorite pork & beans
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 1/2 - green pepper, diced
- 1/2 pound ham, chopped or shaved
- 1/2 -3/4 cup dark brown sugar
- 1 - 20 ounce can of pineapple tid-bits or chunks, drained
- 3/4 cup ketchup
How To Make hawaiian baked beans
-
Step 1Drain the excess liquid from the pork & beans
-
Step 2Combine all the ingredients together, stirring well until combined
-
Step 3Place in crock pot / slow cooker and cook on HIGH for at least 5 hours, stirring occasionally. After about three hours, tilt the lid on the slow cooker so steam can escape allowing the beans to thicken. The longer they cook in the crock pot / slow cooker, the thicker they get.
-
Step 4You can bake these in the oven as well. Cooked bacon can be substituted for the ham
-
Step 5Enjoy at your favorite cook out or BBQ.
