This recipe is from the Colonial Park United Methodist Church cookbook in Memphis, TN. There's no date on the cookbook, but I remember my mother being the editor for it when I was in high school, so late 60's.

chopped onion
1/4 c
chopped celery
1 can(s)
sliced water chestnuts
1/4 c
butter, melted
1 c
cracker crumbs

How to Make Green Pea Casserole


  • 1Saute onion an celery in a small amount of oil until tender.
  • 2Stir in mushroom soup
  • 3Mix the peas and water chestnuts together in a casserole dish.
  • 4Top with the mushroom soup mixture.
  • 5Toss the cracker crumbs with butter and sprinkle over the mixture.
  • 6Bake 20 minutes at 350
