This recipe was introduced to me by my son's lady friend about a year ago and I have been hooked ever since! It is definitely addictive.

Ingredients
- 1 pound fresh green beans
- 1 teaspoon butter
- 1/3 cup slivered almonds
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 pinch black pepper
How To Make green beans d'hôtel

Step 1Wash and trim the green beans and place into a medium size pan. Cover the beans with water.

Step 2Bring the beans to a boil, then reduce heat and let simmer, covered, about 2 hours, or less, depending on your preferences.

Step 3Drain the beans and keep warm.

Step 4In a small skillet, melt the butter and add the slivered almonds.

Step 5Over medium heat, brown the almonds in the butter until they are golden brown.

Step 6Add salt and pepper to the beans, and stir in the almonds.

Step 7Serve as a side dish with any meal. Note: you can add bacon, sausage or small ham chunks while cooking the beans if you feel you need some meat with your meal.
