This recipe was introduced to me by my son's lady friend about a year ago and I have been hooked ever since! It is definitely addictive.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound fresh green beans
  • 1 teaspoon butter
  • 1/3 cup slivered almonds
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 pinch black pepper

How To Make green beans d'hôtel

  • Step 1
    Wash and trim the green beans and place into a medium size pan. Cover the beans with water.
  • Step 2
    Bring the beans to a boil, then reduce heat and let simmer, covered, about 2 hours, or less, depending on your preferences.
  • Step 3
    Drain the beans and keep warm.
  • Step 4
    In a small skillet, melt the butter and add the slivered almonds.
  • Step 5
    Over medium heat, brown the almonds in the butter until they are golden brown.
  • Step 6
    Add salt and pepper to the beans, and stir in the almonds.
  • Step 7
    Serve as a side dish with any meal. Note: you can add bacon, sausage or small ham chunks while cooking the beans if you feel you need some meat with your meal.
