green beans
(1 RATING)
My kids don't like green beans, so I am always on the look out for a good recipe that I can afford (for canned green beans). I developed this one, and they will actually eat it. What doesn't bacon fix? I love green beans, so I enjoy it without the bacon too. Enjoy!

Ingredients
- 2 cans green beans (your choice of kind, i like french cut, but all are good)
- 1 small yellow or white onion, peeled, minced
- 1 clove garlic, pressed or minced (very finely)
- 1/2 pound bacon, cooked until crispy ( but not overcooked)
- 1 teaspoon bacon drippings
- 1 tablespoon butter (or olive oil)
- 2 tablespoons slivered almonds (optional)
- 1 cup french fried onions (optional)
How To Make green beans
-
Step 1Cook bacon, reserve 1 teaspoon of drippings, include some of the brown stuff. Saute the onions and garlic in the bacon drippings, and the butter (or olive oil).
-
Step 2Heat green beans in a separate pan and drain. Pour into pan with sauteed onions and garlic. Add crumbled bacon. Keep on low heat until ready to serve. Slivered almonds are also a great addition to this dish, or if you want to halve the onions and add french fried onions on top, that is also good.
