green bean casserole

It's hard to believe that I had never had this American holiday favorite before meeting my husband. Now it's kind of my thing to do for the holiday dinner table, especially since I play with it (I crushed some leftover croutons one year and it's become a permanent part of my recipe). I found my original recipe on the side of a Durkee Fried Onion can, and modified it slightly from there. . .

Ingredients

  • 10 3/4 ounces cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • dash pepper
  • 4 cups cut green beans
  • 1/2 cup crushed seasoned croutons
  • 6 ounces can of french fried onions

How To Make green bean casserole

  • Step 1
    Combine soup, milk, soy sauce, pepper, beans, and a handful of french fried onions. Add to a round or square casserole dish.
  • Step 2
    Bake for 25 minutes at 350*F.
  • Step 3
    Top with croutons and remaining onions. Bake 5 minutes more.
  • Step 4
    ***NOTE: 4 cups green beans equals 16 - 20 oz frozen green beans, 32 oz. canned green beans, or 1-1/2 lb fresh green beans.
