  • 6 can(s)
    whole green beans
  • 1 lb
    bacon, cut in half
  • 2 stick
    butter
  • 1/2 c
    brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1 Tbsp
    minced garlic (or more)

How to Make Green Bean Bundles (Haystacks)

Step-by-Step

  1. Take 5-6 beans and wrap 1/2 slice bacon around, (no need to use toothpick)making a bundle. Put in 9x13 baking pan, keep making bundles until all beans are used up. In sauce pan combine butter, brown sugar and garlic. Simmer on low until butter is melted. Pour butter sauce over bundles, cover and bake 350* for 45 minutes, uncover and bake 15 minutes more. Bacon should be cooked but not crisp. Bake a little longer if necessary.
  2. You wouldn't think butter, brown sugar and garlic would be good, but Oh my goodness, you can almost drink the sauce it is so tasty. This is another must have for our family gatherings.
