green bean & bacon skillet
(1 RATING)
My daughter always makes the classic Green Bean casserole with cream of mushroom for Thanksgiving. But my son and daughter- in law don't care for the mushroom. This is their favorite Green Bean dish that I make for them.

Ingredients
- 4 cups fresh green beans
- 1 package bacon, uncooked, chopped
- 1 tablespoon sugar (more or less depending on your taste)
- 1 tablespoon red wine vinegar
- 1 pinch salt
How To Make green bean & bacon skillet
-
Step 1Trim and cut green beans to 1 1/2 inches. Set aside.(best to use fresh beans instead of canned)Chop bacon into small pieces. Fry bacon in large skillet, but not too crispy. Transfer bacon to paper towels to drain. Reserve the drippings.
-
Step 2Add the vinegar with burner on medium. Deglaze the pan. Add the sugar.(Now I don't measure the ingredients. These are just a guess-timate, but pretty accurate. You can add more or less depending on your taste)Add salt.
-
Step 3Add the beans to the skillet and stir. Reduce the heat to low and cover. Simmer for 40 min. or until beans are tender. Transfer to a serving dish.
