This is how my Grandmother, my Mother , and all my Aunts and Uncles cook it. If it ain't broke.....DON'T FIX IT.

Ingredients

  • 3/4 c
    corn oil for frying
  • 5 medium
    squash, fresh
  • 1 c
    yellow cornmeal (in my opinion, it makes a difference)
  • 4 Tbsp
    flour
  • 2 Tbsp
    sugar
  • ·
    salt and pepper

How to Make Fried Squash

Step-by-Step

  1. wash and cut the squash in about 1/2 inch slices
  2. mix all dry ingredients
  3. dredge squash in cornmeal mixture and place in hot oil about 400 degrees,in a single layer, until golden brown
  4. i use a cast iron skillet but my aunts all use electric skillets but long as it is fried golden, its gonna be good.
