  • 4 cups cut up fresh okra, cut into 1 inch pieces
  • 2 cups cornmeal
  • 3/4 cup oil

How To Make fried okra

  • Step 1
    Cut up okra into 1 inch pieces.
  • Step 2
    Toss okra pieces in cornmeal.
  • Step 3
    Put oil in a large skillet and heat it to high.
  • Step 4
    Pour breaded okra into a hot skillet. Be careful because the grease will splatter.
  • Step 5
    Reduce the heat to medium, and cook for 10 minutes until brown. Use a spatula to turn it, as necessary.
  • Step 6
    Drain fried okra on a paper towel and serve immediately.
