I have a hard time letting my tomatoes in the garden turn red just because these are so darned good!

Ingredients

3
large, green tomatoes
1
egg, lightly beaten
1/4 c
milk
3/4 c
all-purpose flour
1 c
corn meal
salt
to taste
pepper
to taste
vegetable oil for frying

How to Make Fried Green Tomatoes

Step-by-Step

  • 1Wash tomatoes in cold water, and get very dry. Slice tomatoes very thin. Set aside.
  • 2Mix milk and egg together in a small bowl; then mix flour and cornmeal together in another bowl.
  • 3Dip tomatoe slices in egg mixture and dredge in flour mixture. Shake off excess and fry in hot oil a minute or two on each side or until golden brown and crisp.
  • 4Drain on paper towels and sprinkle with salt & pepper.
