fried cabbage
My mom made this often when I was growing up. It was always a favorite at the table. Once I got married, I started making it for my family and it has now become a favorite of my kids and husband! Enjoy!

Ingredients
- 1 large head of cabbage, chopped in bite size
- 1 pound bacon, any flavor or cut
- 2 medium potatoes, cubed
- 10 - snack size carrots, cut
- 1/2 small sweet or vidalia onion
- 1/4 teaspoon cracked black pepper
How To Make fried cabbage
-
Step 1Use a large deep skillet. I use a 12" x 3" non stick(Paula Dean )
-
Step 2Cook 1lb bacon until crispy. Remove from skillet BUT leave bacon fat in pan.
-
Step 3Add your chopped cabbage to the skillet (don't worry about how full it is, it will cook down) cover with lid and let cook on medium low stirring occasionally.
-
Step 4While cabbage is cooking, chop bacon up into small pieces. Not forgetting to stir your cabbage while chopping. Add to cabbage once the cabbage has cooked down a little then cover and continue cooking and stirring occasionally.
-
Step 5Prep the carrots, onion & potatoes. Then add to the skillet with bacon and cabbage. The whole cooking process will be about an hour and a half. So worth the wait!
-
Step 6Stir, serve and enjoy!
