How to Make Fresh Green Beans
- I clean the beans in vinegar and rinse off with water. Break off tips and break in half if the beans are long. Set aside.
- Cook the bacon until crispy, but not overdone. You can also use cooked ham for this recipe by browning the ham in a little olive oil.
- In a large pot, cook onion in 2 tablespoons of olive oil for a few minutes, add the fresh garlic and continue cooking until tender. Add the 2 packages of Herb Ox chicken bouillon to the onions and garlic and stir well. Add about 2 cups of the chicken broth/stock to the onions. Once it comes to a boil, add your green beans, red pepper flakes, salt and pepper, turn heat down to medium.
- Let the beans cook about half an hour and stir a few times, then add your meat by crumbling the bacon pieces or the chopped ham, stirring a few times during cooking. Add a drizzle of olive oil and cook until tender.
