Always a lot of cabbage in the garden this time of year and this is a recipe I can get the whole family to eat.

Ingredients

  • 1 large cabbage head, shredded
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 5 tablespoons butter
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 8 ounces velveta cheese, cubed
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • - salt and pepper to taste

How To Make creamy cabbage cheese casserole

  • Step 1
    Cook cabbage in small amount of boiling water until tender, drain very well. Set aside.
  • Step 2
    In a large skillet, saute' onions in the 5 Tbsp. butter until tender. Add soup to onions in skillet and mix well. Add cheese; stir over low heat until cheese melts. Remove from heat. Stir in drained cabbage, salt and pepper. Turn into a buttered 2 quart baking dish.
  • Step 3
    Melt the 1 Tbsp. butter in microwave and mix with bread crumbs; sprinkle over top of casserole. Bake uncovered at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
