Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/2 - red onion, chopped
  • - kosher salt and black pepper
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 teaspoons red pepper flakes
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup shredded parmesan
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 2 (10oz.) packages frozen chopped spinach, thawed and squeezed dry
  • 1/2 cup french's fried onions

How To Make creamed spinach

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 375*. Spray 8x8-inch baking dish. In large skillet, melt butter and add red onions and a pinch of salt and saute for 3 minutes. Add garlic and red pepper flakes and saute for another 2 minutes.
  • Step 2
    Add heavy cream, Parmesan, and the nutmeg. Cook up until right before the cream bubbles, remove from heat and add sour cream and the spinach. Salt and pepper to taste.
  • Step 3
    Pour spinach mixture into baking dish, sprinkle with fried onions and bake for 20 minutes or until bubbly. 8 points per serving
