Ingredients

  • 3 c
    frozen peas, cooked
  • 1/4 c
    chopped parsley
  • WHITE SAUCE:

  • 3 Tbsp
    butter
  • 3 Tbsp
    flour
  • 1 c
    milk or cream
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1 pinch
    pepper
  • SAUTÉED MUSHROOMS:

  • 1 1/2 c
    mushrooms, fresh button,diced
  • 3 Tbsp
    butter
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • 1 Tbsp
    worcestershire sauce

How to Make Creamed Peas with Sautéed Mushrooms

Step-by-Step

  1. White sauce:
    Melt butter, stir in flour, add milk gradually and cook slowly until thickened. Add salt and pepper.
  2. Sautéed Mushrooms:
    Cut off all but 1/2 inch of mushroom stems. Wash mushrooms throughly, dice and sauté, in butter 10 to 15 minutes, Season with salt and pepper;stir in Worcestershire sauce.
  3. Add mushrooms, parsley if desired and peas to the white sauce. Stir together and serve hot.
