This is one of my favorite bbq and potluck recipes that I have used over the past 30+ years. It has a nice balance of flavors and always receives nice compliments. I hope that you enjoy it too.

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup apple (1 medium apple), sliced
  • 1/2 cup sweet onion, chopped
  • 31 ounces pork and beans in tomato sauce
  • 6 ounces smoked sausage links (little smokies), sliced thin
  • 1/4 cup raisins
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 2 teaspoons prepared mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 dash cayenne pepper

How To Make crazy baked beans

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  • Step 2
    In a small saucepan, cook apple and onion in a small amount of boiling water for 5 minutes or until crisp-tender; drain.
  • Step 3
    In a large mixing bowl, stir together the cooked apple and onion, beans, sausage, raisins, ketchup, mustard, cinnamon and cayenne pepper.
  • Step 4
    Pour bean mixture into a 1-1/2 Qt. casserole that has been sprayed or wiped with oil.
  • Step 5
    Bake in oven, uncovered, for 1 hour, stirring once.
