Ingredients For country style tomatoes

  • 1 pkg
    (8oz) cream cheese room temperature
  • 1/4 c
    minced fresh parsley
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    minced fresh basil or 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 clove
  • 1/4 tsp
  • 1/4 c
  • 1 c
    panko(japanese) bread crumbs
  • 1 lg
  • 1 Tbsp
  • 3 Tbsp
  • 3 Tbsp
    olive oil

How To Make country style tomatoes

    Cut each tomato into 4 thick slices,place on paper towels to drain.

    Meanwhile, in a small bowl,beat the cream cheese,parsley,basil,and salt,until well blended. Spread cream cheese mixture over eight tomato slices,top with remaining tomato slices.

    Place flour and bread crumbs in separate bowls. In another bowl,whisk egg and milk. Coat the top and bottom of each sandwich with flour,dip in egg mixture,then coat in crumbs

    In a large skillet,heat butter and oil over medium high heat. Fry tomato sandwiches in batches for 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown. Drain on paper towels. Serve immediately.
