I got this recipe from an old friend who grew up in southern Indiana and was a wonderful southern cook. The only thing I added was garlic powder because I love garlic! So yummy!

    cans cut green beans
  • 4 slice
    bacon, cut into pieces
  • 1/2 c
    chopped onion
  • 1
    can pinto beans with liquid
  • 1 c
  • 1 tsp
    garlic powder
  • 1 dash(es)
    salt and pepper

How to Make Country Green Beans


  1. In a large sauce pan, place bacon pieces in and cook until very crisp. Keep all drippings and pieces in the pan.
  2. Add green beans, onion, garlic powder, salt and pepper, water, and pinto beans with liquid.
  3. Bring to a boil and reduce to a simmer for at least 45 min, Adding water if needed to keep from burning, but you do want a nice simmering liquid at all times when cooking. Enjoy!
