country green beans

I got this recipe from an old friend who grew up in southern Indiana and was a wonderful southern cook. The only thing I added was garlic powder because I love garlic! So yummy!

Ingredients

  • 2 - cans cut green beans
  • 4 slices bacon, cut into pieces
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1 - can pinto beans with liquid
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 dash salt and pepper

How To Make country green beans

  • Step 1
    In a large sauce pan, place bacon pieces in and cook until very crisp. Keep all drippings and pieces in the pan.
  • Step 2
    Add green beans, onion, garlic powder, salt and pepper, water, and pinto beans with liquid.
  • Step 3
    Bring to a boil and reduce to a simmer for at least 45 min, Adding water if needed to keep from burning, but you do want a nice simmering liquid at all times when cooking. Enjoy!
