Ingredients

2 medium
chayote, peeled and sliced thin
2 Tbsp
butter
1 Tbsp
olive oil
1/2 c
onion, chopped
1 clove
garlic, chopped fine
1/2 tsp
salt
1/2 tsp
pepper
1/2 tsp
sugar
1/4 tsp
red pepper flakes
2 Tbsp
lime juice

How to Make Chayote - Nicaraguan Style

Step-by-Step

  • 1Heat butter and olive oil over medium high heat. Add onion and garlic, saute until soft.
  • 2When onion is slightly brown, stir in chayote, salt, pepper, sugar and pepper flakes. Stir and cook for 5-10 minutes.
  • 3Add lime juice, stir and cook 5 minutes longer.
    Serve as a side with chicken.
