My Dad loves this dish. So do I really. I have found the baking time to vary tho, most of the time I need to cook it longer. (Dad likes the cabbage to be softer)

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 c
    panko bread crumbs (plain)
  • 1/2 c
    butter
  • 4 1/2 c
    shredded cabbage
  • 1/3 c
    chopped onion
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • 1/4 tsp
    pepper
  • 1 can(s)
    condensed cream of celery soup
  • 1 c
    milk
  • 1/2 c
    mayonnaise
  • 2 c
    shredded cheddar cheese

How to Make Cabbage Casserole

Step-by-Step

  1. 1. Toss the (panko) and butter to toast in fry pan; sprinkle half into a greased 13-in. x 9-in. x 2-in. baking dish.
  2. Layer the cabbage, onion, salt and pepper: repeat till all in dish.
  3. In a bowl, combine the soup, milk and mayonnaise until smooth. Spoon over top of cabbage mixture in baking dish.
  4. Sprinkle with cheese and remaining Panko crumb mixture.
  5. Bake, uncovered, at 350 degrees F for 45-50 minutes or until golden brown.
