My Dad loves this dish. So do I really. I have found the baking time to vary tho, most of the time I need to cook it longer. (Dad likes the cabbage to be softer)

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups panko bread crumbs (plain)
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 4 1/2 cups shredded cabbage
  • 1/3 cup chopped onion
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 can condensed cream of celery soup
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

How To Make cabbage casserole

  • Step 1
    1. Toss the (panko) and butter to toast in fry pan; sprinkle half into a greased 13-in. x 9-in. x 2-in. baking dish.
  • Step 2
    Layer the cabbage, onion, salt and pepper: repeat till all in dish.
  • Step 3
    In a bowl, combine the soup, milk and mayonnaise until smooth. Spoon over top of cabbage mixture in baking dish.
  • Step 4
    Sprinkle with cheese and remaining Panko crumb mixture.
  • Step 5
    Bake, uncovered, at 350 degrees F for 45-50 minutes or until golden brown.
