butternut squash casserole
My favorite aunt used to make this for family potluck dinners. We would go to Grandma's almost every Sunday night and each family brought a couple of dishes. What great food!

Ingredients
- 3 cups cooked and mashed butternut squash
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 6 cups peeled, chopped apples
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 1/2 cups crushed corn flakes
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
- 2 tablespoons butter
How To Make butternut squash casserole

Step 1Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine first four ingredients, stirring well, and set aside.

Step 2Melt 1 T of the butter in a large skillet; add apples and sugar. Cover and simmer 8-10 minutes or until tender. Drain off excess liquid. Stir apples into squash mixture. Spoon into lightly greased 2 quart casserole dish.

Step 3Combing remaining ingredients, stirring well. Sprinkle over squash mixture. Bake at 350F for 20 minutes.
