Ingredients

  • 1
    small onion, sliced
  • 2 Tbsp
    butter
  • 2 Tbsp
    flour
  • 1 tsp
    sugar
  • 1 c
    tomato juice
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1/8 tsp
    pepper
  • 2 pkg
    (10 oz.) frozen brussel sprouts or 1 1/4 pounds fresh brussel sprouts, cooked and drained
  • 1/4 c
    shredded cheddar cheese

How to Make Brussels Sprouts Extraordinaire

Step-by-Step

  1. In a skillet, saute onion in butter until tender. Remove onion and set aside.
  2. Blend flour into the drippings.
  3. Add tomato juice; cook and stir over low heat until thickened and smooth. Stir in the sugar. salt, pepper and onion.
  4. Arrange the brussel sprouts in a greased 1 quart baking dish; top with the tomato sauce.
    Sprinkle with cheese.
  5. Bake uncovered, at 350 degrees for 15 minutes.
