Broccoli Salad with Raisins

I got this recipe from a friend way back in 1978! Sometimes when I make it, I "mix it up" by using a combination of broccoli and cauliflower and adding some toasted walnuts.

Ingredients

  • SALAD

  • 2
    broccoli crowns, chopped
  • 2/3 c
    raisins
  • 1/2 c
    diced red onion
  • 1/2 lb
    bacon, cooked crisp and crumbled
  • 1 1/2 c
    shredded sharp cheese
  • DRESSING

  • 1 1/2 c
    mayonnaise
  • 1/4 c
    cider vinegar (nore to taste)
  • 1/4 - 1/3
    cup sugar (more to taste)

How to Make Broccoli Salad with Raisins

Step-by-Step

  1. In a large bowl, combine the broccoli, raisins, onion, bacon and cheese. Toss gently to combine.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the mayonnaise, vinegar and sugar. (At this point, I taste the dressing and adjust to my taste.)
  3. Pour dressing over broccoli mixture and toss to coat.
  4. Transfer to a covered container and refrigerate 1-2 hours before serving.
