1Cut broccoli into bite size pieces and cook in boiling water for about 3 minutes, drain
2Sauce... melt butter over medium heat, add flour, salt,pepper and milk and whisk until smooth.
Blend in cream cheese until melted and smooth.
3Place broccoli into a 2 quart casserole dish. Place blanched onions on top of broccoli layer. Pour sauce over vegetables, spreading evenly.
Sprinkle cheddar cheese over sauce.
Melt about 2 tbsp of butter in small bowl and add about a cup of fresh breadcrumbs and 2 tbs parmesan cheese. Mix well and sprinkle over sauce.
Bake at 350 F for about 35 minutes or until topping is brown and crispy.
