My mom's friend would make this every year . I love them , to me they are better than any store bought.
It will take you most of the afternoon but so worth it ..

thinly sliced cucumbers
2 c
thinly sliced onions
green peppers , finely chopped
2 c
3 c
brown sugar
2 tsp
celery seed
2 tsp
tumeric powder
2 stick

How to Make Bread & Butter Pickels


  • 1Let cucumbers, onions etc. stand in salt water for 1 hour.
  • 2Drain and cook 20 mins. in vinegar mixture
  • 3Place in clean hot jars to seal ..(If you boil the lids and rings then put them on jars and turn upside down .They should all seal ) Make sure the lip of jar is whipped off before putting the ring on
  • 4I have been able to keep these on the sheft for two years .Just make sure thier sealed before you store them
