We can not have a family get-together without this salad. My children really don't care what is served as long as mom made a double batch for carry out... lol. Great warm or cold. Goes with anything, however my fav is beans and cornbread with a tall glass of Texas-tea.

Ingredients

  • 1
    family size bag stillwells breaded okra
  • 1 pt
    cherry tomatoes halved
  • 1 medium
    purple onion diced
  • 1 medium
    green bell pepper diced
  • 1 lb
    bacon cooked and chopped
  • ·
    salt/pepper

How to Make Brandy's Okra Salad

Step-by-Step

  1. Cook bacon in oven until crisp but not hard. Place on cutting board and chop. Set aside.
  2. Fry okra and lay out on paper towel lined cookie sheet. Cool slightly.
  3. In a large bowl layer everything as follows: okra/onion/bacon/tomatoes/and a little salt. Do this until all the items are used and you are ready to serve. You can use a little of the bacon grease on top if you choose, but not much.
