I learned how to make these greens when I was in Florida visiting a woman who accommodated us while a choir I sang with was on tour.

Ingredients For best turnip and mustard greens

  • 6 bunch
    fresh turnip greens
  • 6 bunch
    fresh mustard greens
  • 3 md
    smoked ham hocks
  • 1 pkg
    salt pork
  • 1 pkg
    smoked ham pieces
  • 1/2 c
    bacon drippings (or to taste)
  • salt and pepper to taste

How To Make best turnip and mustard greens

    Put all meat on to boil in a stock pot half filled with water.
  • 2
    Pick and wash (thoroughly) bunches of greens. Leaving a few stems for vitamin content.

    When meat is cooked to folk tender add greens, salt and pepper to pot. Add bacon drippings and cook till greens are tender.

    You gotta serve these with baked chicken, candied yams and cornbread! Hum-hum good!
