best oriental salad

My family loves this fresh crispy salad. I got this recipe many years ago from a co-worker. It is different from most oriental salad recipes in that it does not use the ramen noodle spice packet.

Ingredients

  • 1 - bag of prepared coleslaw cabbage mix
  • 2 bunches green onions
  • 3-4 tablespoons butter
  • 2 packages ramen noodles - discard spice pack
  • 4 tablespoons sesame seeds
  • 1/2 cup sliced almonds
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup white vinegar
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup vegetable oil

How To Make best oriental salad

  • Step 1
    Chop green onions and add to coleslaw mix. Chill.
  • Step 2
    Break up the ramen noodles and brown in 3-4 tbsp of butter. Add sesame seeds and almonds to toast. Set aside to cool.
  • Step 3
    Mix soy sauce, vinegar, sugar, & oil in sauce pan and bring to boil. Boil for 1-2 minutes, or until the sugar has completely dissolved. Place in separate container and chill.
  • Step 4
    Just before serving add the toasted noodle mix and the dressing to the coleslaw mix.
