Ingredients

16 oz
canned beets, sliced, undrained
1 medium
onion, thinly sliced
1/3 c
cider vinegar
1/4 c
sugar
1 tsp
dry mustard
1 tsp
celery seeds
1/4 tsp
salt
1/4 tsp
black pepper

How to Make Beets and Onions

Step-by-Step

  • 1Drain beets, reserving juice. Combine the liquid with sugar, mustard, vinegar and celery seeds in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir to dissolve sugar and mustard. Add onion, salt and pepper; simmer 3-4 minutes, or until onion is slightly wilted. Remove from heat.
  • 2Combine with beets in a mixing bowl. Cool. Cover and refrigerate for at least 3 hours.
