all purpose flour
1 tsp
1/4 tsp
1 Tbsp
egg yolks
3/4 c
2 large
white onions, sliced 1/4 inch thick
oil for deep frying

How to Make Beer-Batter Onion Rings


  • 1Mix the flour, salt, pepper, oil and yolks together.
  • 2Gradually whisk in the beer.
  • 3Refrigerate the batter 3 1/2 hours to rest before using.
  • 4Slice onions, and dip them in the batter.
  • 5Deep-fry in 375 degree oil until golden brown.
  • 6This batter also works well on other vegetables besides onion rings--and it's great on fish, too.
