Ingredients

  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 2 - egg yolks
  • 3/4 cup beer
  • 2 large white onions, sliced 1/4 inch thick
  • - oil for deep frying

How To Make beer-batter onion rings

  • Step 1
    Mix the flour, salt, pepper, oil and yolks together.
  • Step 2
    Gradually whisk in the beer.
  • Step 3
    Refrigerate the batter 3 1/2 hours to rest before using.
  • Step 4
    Slice onions, and dip them in the batter.
  • Step 5
    Deep-fry in 375 degree oil until golden brown.
  • Step 6
    This batter also works well on other vegetables besides onion rings--and it\'s great on fish, too.
