1Preheat oven 375.
In a large pot over medium heat; add cabbage and salt, with enough water to cover the cabbage. Bring to a boil and cook cabbage until tender; drain and set aside.
2In a saucepan over low heat; add butter to melt. Stir in flour. Add milk slowly stir and bring to a boil. Season with salt and pepper, to taste. Set aside.
3Grease 2 quart casserole dish. Layer cabbage and shredded cheese alternating layers ending up with cabbage on top. Carefully pour the milk sauce over the cabbage.
4Cut the bread into bite size pieces and place them on top of the cabbage.
5Place the casserole dish on a baking sheet and place in the oven. Bake 20-25 minutes or until hot.
