Love this! It's a little time-consuming because the asparagus has to be cooked slowly and turned carefully so the bacon doesn't fall off, but it's sooo worth it.

  • 1 bunch asparagus, fresh
  • 1 package thick sliced bacon

How To Make bacon-wrapped grilled asparagus

To prevent a grease flare-up, we turned on our two outer burners and left the two inner burners off. We grilled the asparagus over the two burners that were off. But a grill basket could also be used to remove them if needed during a flare-up.
  • Trim the asparagus.
    Step 1
    Trim the ends off the asparagus.
  • Cut bacon in half for smaller asparagus.
    Step 2
    Cut bacon in half lengthwise for smaller asparagus.
  • Spiral the bacon around the asparagus and secure with a toothpick.
    Step 3
    Spiral bacon around each piece of asparagus. Put toothpicks through the bacon and asparagus to help them stay in place.
  • Grill, turning often, until bacon is crisp.
    Step 4
    Grill, turning carefully, until tender. Leave the lid open while grilling.
  • Do not leave unattended in case of flare-ups.
    Step 5
    Do not leave unattended because the bacon fat drippings can catch fire.
