small white onions

cream
salt and pepper to taste
1/2 tsp
nutmeg

Step-by-Step

  • 1Wash and trim carrots.
  • 2Peel onions.
  • 3Place in pot with 1/2 inch boiling salted water.
  • 4Cover and simmer gently for 10 minutes.
  • 5Remove lid and boil rapidly, shaking pot to prevent burning, until water is absorbed.
  • 6Stir in cream and add pepper and salt to taste, if necessary.
  • 7Serve with a very light sprinkling of nutmeg.
