This is my first posting....I grow my own collards, and use this recipe all the time to feed my Husband, 6 children,and 12 grand children, plus all the in laws...we love Collards cooked this way...This is a main course in our house, served with sweet corn bread and sweet tea.hope you enjoy them too

Ingredients

  • - two chopped onions
  • - 6 chicken boulion cubes
  • - 1/3 cup apple cider vinegar
  • - 1 full stick of butter
  • - one package precooked bacon, cut up
  • - 1 batch of collards, cleaned and trimmed
  • - 6 cups water...add more as needed
  • - 1 teaspoon mortons seasoning salt
  • - 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
  • - 1 cup diced ham

How To Make strickland southern collards

  • Step 1
    add butter, onions,and bacon to pot,and simmer till butter is melted,and onion are soft
  • Step 2
    add water, bouillon cubes, seasonings, and apple cider vinegar...bring to boil
  • Step 3
    Add Collard Greens...reduce to medium heat so you don't scorch them,and cook for several hours until tender...serve with sweet cornbread...YUM
